in a yellow wood
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Two paths diverged in a yellow wood
I took the one less travelled by
and that has made all the difference
I find myself seeking out Robert Frost in October and turn again to one of my very favourite poems.
October
O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
Tomorrow's wind, if it be wild,
Should waste them all.
The crows above the forest call;
Tomorrow they may form and go.
O hushed October morning mild,
Begin the hours of this day slow.
Make the day seem to us less brief.
Hearts not averse to being beguiled,
Beguile us in the way you know,
Release one leaf at break of day;
At noon release another leaf;
One from our trees, one far away.
Retard the sun with gentle mist;
Enchant the land with amethyst.
Slow, slow!
For the grapes' sake, if they were all,
Whose leaves already are burnt with frost,
Whose clustered fruit must else be lost-
For the grapes' sake along the wall.

Beautiful, peaceful, romantic, soul-soothing. Thank you so much for sharing at http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2023/10/the-teapot-show-cedar-creek-pottery.html
ReplyDeleteThat's nice that you took the path less traveled. Often, pleasant surprises come our way when doing so. A pretty Fall leaf photo, and our Autumns here start out with the golds, then change to the different colors. Your nature posts are so peaceful to me, thank you.

What a beautiful post, both poem and photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely soft Autumn pictures and for the Frost poem, which is an unfamiliar one, but perfect for the season and the month. (As also is the line from his more familiar poem which your photo perfectly illustrates.).
ReplyDeleteFall is my favorite season and I also love this poem. Thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteThese special scenes are precisely why I love this time of the year. The poem is one of my favorites too, especially when accompanied by lovely photos such as yours. I enjoyed your post very much, thank you!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful poem.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures from the yellowing woods. And lovely lines from Frost.
ReplyDeleteHappy Fall! :)
Your pictures match the poem perfectly!
