in my heart I hear the drumming

I was at a pow-wow over the weekend.

It's no small thing to pass on your culture and traditions to your young.

That's the only way that it won't be lost.

I am of Irish descent and not native but my ancestors traveled to the United States in steerage

escaping persecution, genocide and the great hunger so I understand some of what it means to

try to keep your heritage alive.

I am thankful that I got to listen to some great drumming and singing, and to see some beautiful dancing.

  2. it's a privilege to be able to share this with the participants. I have English, Scottish, and Irish ancestors and I don't really know any traditions from the British Isles.

  3. These are neat pictures, and it's nice that you got to see a special culture with their clothes and music. It's great that you are interested in your own heritage. Irish heritage is wonderful. My kids are part Irish. ; )

  4. We have to know where we come from to have a clue of where to go.

Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the gentle night to you.
Moon and stars pour their healing light on you
