they shout for joy
Joy to the world! The savior reigns
let men their songs employ
while fields and floods
rocks, hills and plains
repeat the sounding joy
repeat the sounding joy
repeat, repeat the sounding joy!
I love the second verse of Joy to the World.
When I was a little girl we lived on the edge of a conservation area and our backyard let out into a beautiful wood filled with rocks and hills and fields. I would walk through the snowy paths singing this song and imagine that all the earth was filled with joy.

Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness.
They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness:
and the little hills rejoice on every side.
The pastures are clothed with flocks;
the valleys also are covered with corn;
they shout for joy
they also sing.
Psalm 65:10-13

The Psalm verse goes very well with the memory you have as a little girl, the beautiful woods with snowy paths singing Joy to the World. It is one of my favorite Christmas songs too.. Have a merry Christmas week.
