Walking wild
At the school where I work there is a giant old Beech tree.
It stands in the toddlers playground and they are as much surrounded by it’s joy as it as by their’s.
They use the seeds and spiny burs in the mud kitchen, they climb up into the large space between the 5 major trunks, they search for bugs and other curious things in it’s moss covered roots.
They love to run around it in a wide circle...it’s so large that if you are standing on one side you cannot see who might be standing on the other side!
When they are all going around the tree and filled with laughter I sometimes think of that old Donovan song,
Happiness Runs in a Circular Motion
Thought is like little boat upon the sea
Everybody is a part of everything anyway
You can have everything if you let yourself be
Why? Because...
Happiness runs, happiness runs,
Happiness runs, happiness runs
Happiness runs, happiness runs....

Beautiful view up the tree!!
ReplyDeleteLove upward shots like that. Sounds so fun to see the children all happy playing with the tree. Does probably make the tree happy if it's like plants that they say are breath helps. Have a happy week.
ReplyDeleteA fabulous tree!
ReplyDeleteI really liked Donovan, but don't remember this song. How wonderful that they have this tree!
