Keeping Sabbath

A good tree does not bear rotten fruit, nor does a rotten tree bear good fruit.
A good person out of the store of goodness in his heart produces good,
but an evil person out of a store of evil produces evil;
for from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks.
Your photo reminds me of the hazy days of summer.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo of sunlight, which reminds me of what goodness would look like in a person's heart. Great scripture.
ReplyDeletePraying for good fruit.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate (deeply) the dotted line Jesus draws in these verses between outward and inward. Even in my parenting, it was tempting to go for "good behavior." It's so nice when children are polite, etc. But the real issue for all of us is motivation and essence. That actually may have been one of the things that made Jesus so unpopular with the Temple crowd . . .?
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite verses. I do believe we speak what is in our hearts. Maybe not with words, with actions, attitudes. With that in mind, I try to check what I allow into my heart.
