the fun....not my kitchen floors are being re-done on Friday and Saturday. Everything is everywhere and things will get worse before they get better. Stove's unhooked (it's gas) the good....not my bedroom ceiling had a leak some time ago and we are having it repaired and repainted. But, it's proving to be more difficult than expected so.... everything is everywhere and we are sleeping on the couch... there are drop cloths over the bureau's..... ugh! the random.... I don't know...I can't think straight. The good, the fun, the random

When the September afternoons are warm and the mornings and evenings are chilly, I cut some up some apples and pears and add them to a pitcher of fresh water along with a cinnamon stick and a chunk of ginger. It's a delightfully refreshing and healthy taste of fall to cool us off. A Wise Woman Builds Her Home

Welcoming September

Image
~ Of an evening Joe invited me to sit on the porch a spell with him. I popped some popcorn and we brought a bowl out. It was almost as if we were waiting for a movie to start... but then I heard the waves of the Atlantic on our rocky shore, and the wind over the wild rose bushes and dune grass, and I realized that the night itself was the entertainment. ~

a simple rhythm

Image
We begin a new rhythm here at home on our rather tiny sort-of an island. I can feel it stepping into time with my heartbeat.  I've always followed some sort of rhythm... the seasons follow the rhythm of the earth as it spins and we create a rhythm around that... first we rise and put the kettle on for tea stop to admire the sun as it rises over the Atlantic dress, scrub our faces.... light a coloured candle while we breakfast on grains or fresh eggs ... Say our prayers and go to sleep the pulse of home.... Joe has started a new work schedule. After working nights and weekends for the past 2 years he has switched to Monday - Friday from 7:00 in the morning till 3:00 in the afternoon. Summer is waning....the boys are back in school. I love this time of year. Monday Summer corn and zucchini chowder  with salad and cornbread Tuesday White bean shepard's pie with salad Wednesda
