11 August
Saturday I went to a handtub muster with my daughter and grandson.
Verne's daddy pumps for the tub that won!
It's a great way to spend a day with family and friends.
It was a bit rainy but when the skies cleared some
Verne and I talked about things little boys and their grandma's speak of.
I had a chance over the week to get together with a few of my cousins.
We went out and got a bite to eat and my cousin Martha and I had a martini.
We normally only see one another once a year or so.
It was a nice treat.
Summer is in full swing now...
the window boxes in Beacon Hill are overflowing with prettiness.
It's cooler in the morning and evenings
and the sunsets and sunrises are stunningly beautiful.
I find myself looking forward to Autumn.

August 26 my step-daughter Ashley would have been 24 years old.
She passed away on 28 February, 2016.
When ever I see a dragonfly, I think of her....
actually, I am almost never not thinking of her.
There will always be a giant chasm where she once was.
I feel her more closely this month though
and find myself turning away from conversation
to prevent sobs from breaking forth.
Dragonflies bring me comfort...
they are beautiful, and otherworldly,
and they always seem to show up at the most opportune times.

The handtub muster sounds like fun! And visits with grandchildren are always a fave. It's so hard to lose someone dear, and those first few birthdays and special occasions without them are the hardest. That's sweet about the dragonfly. Praying for you!
ReplyDeleteNever heard of a handtub muster but looks like fun. I can only imagine how hard it is to deal with the loss of child. It's not the order of things we expect.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about the loss of your precious Ashley. Sending you (((hugs))) and prayers. Perfectly wonderful that you saw a dragonfly this week.
ReplyDeleteAlso perfectly wonderful to have time with your grandson - that photo of you two looks like y'all are up to something.
Over flowing window boxes and stunning sunrises/sunsets are some of the best and most beautiful treasures of summer.
Have a great week.

ReplyDeleteI have never heard of a handtub race. Sounds like lots of fun though. And how can that cute grandson not make the day extra special?!
I recall when your step daughter passed away and often think of you. Now when I see a dragonfly, I will remember her.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to see your cousins and hang out with them!
Enjoy the rest of this beautiful summer season!
I'm sorry to hear about your step-daughter. The dragonfly is beautiful, and such a pleasant reminder of your loved one.
