The fun I love the look on his face! It's as if he's saying "I know, I keep getting cuter, don't I?" the random My mum fell on MLK day and broke her hip. She's been in hospital since then. Hopefully, she will be in rehab at some point today where she will stay for a month or so.  My sister came in from CT for the weekend  and after being with my mum most of Saturday we stopped on the way home for a little drink.... it was delicious! I made a lentil salad on Monday. It's got some roasted cauliflower, butternut squash, leeks, garlic and, of course, lentils. I plopped a few spoonfuls over a smallish blue bowl of brown basmati rice. My house was full of boys watching hockey and playing video games so I slipped into my bedroom with my blue bowl and a cup of tea I watched the sun shining over the Atlantic listened to some old Joni Mitchel and had myself a bit of lunch At the end of February it will be one year since my step-daughter passed away I have re-emerged at the end of this year as a different sort of person I am stronger in ways I would never have wished to be I am broken in ways I didn't think I would ever be able to recover from some days I still struggle to get through the loss of my step-daughter I am also a grandmother! My heart has grown 2 sizes as the Grinch would say.... I have a new job in Boston and I love it! in honor of all that I ha

I have started to build a better wardrobe.  It's been a while since I've bought myself any new clothes. It's been a pretty rough year for me. I feel as if I am coming out of a sort of a cocoon I have lived through some life-altering experiences  who I am and how I define myself has changed since this time last year  it's time to start paying a little attention to myself now rejoicing in who I have become -I am in love with my new boots!  What I Wore Share your cup Thursday Little things Thursday The charm of home

my mum took a fall the other day on her way into the market she was looking at the shelves just inside of the door she wanted a single roll to make a fish sandwich for her dinner which is really rather silly  because she said she had misplaced  the fish she bought at the market earlier in the day She remembers it all wrapped up nicely.... but doesn't have any idea where she put it down. either way -she fell  and had to have help getting back up onto a bench with a nice gentleman who sat with her till the ambulance arrived and got her to hospital. After a very long night in the ER it was announced that she had fractured and chipped her hip and though she doesn't need surgery she will have to spend some time in a rehab because she can't walk at all or even put any weight upon it.  ~ So my brother and sis and I have started to think about such things as  the stairs in her town house and all t

B is for.... boys and blue things and beaches of a Sunday afternoon we bundled up and walked the beach scrambling over the rocks and skipping stones at the shore line we came across the blue thing AMERIC CORPORATION imprinted on it was the only clue as to what it was  as the bulk of it was buried in the sand First Joey tried to pull it out of the sand  he found a stick and wrapped the yellow rope around it to get a good grip older brother Jack came along and tried as well They even tried working together.... after a bit they decided to catch up to dad who used the opportunity to discuss the irony of American corporations trashing the beach dug into the sand so deep that even working together we can't pull it out

A rare phenomenon smoke on the water....  a fog which is formed when very cold air moves over warmer water. It's almost never seen over the Atlantic here on this rather tiny island so I braved the near zero temps to run out to the beach and take a few pictures on my way to work.  Verne I took Wednesday off and spent the day with Bonnie and Verne! It was a very warm day in the low 50s! Crazy New England weather! We walked to the pizza shop up the street and ate out for lunch. Verne loved it. I got a new hair cut and color which I really like! I was over due for a change.

Then we went to Walmart and printed off  a bazzillion pictures of Verne from my phone. Almost $45.00!! He just keeps getting cuter and cuter! Little Things Thursday

t In him was life, and the life was the light of men.  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:4-5 ~ ~ ~ So these may seem like dark days. Indeed, when one examines the plight of the world they may be dark days...and darker days may be coming. But.....darkness has not yet overcome the light and it has been and will continue to be my belief that the light is in our fellow man and it will never be extinguished.
