Morning Prayer
O God, Who art the unsearchable abyss of peace, the ineffable sea of love,
the fountain of blessings, and the bestower of affection,
Who sendest peace to those that receive it;
open to us this day the sea of Thy love,
and water us with the plenteous streams from the riches of Thy grace.
Make us children of quietness, and heirs of peace.
Enkindle in us the fire of Thy love;
sow in us Thy fear; strengthen our weakness by Thy power;
bind us closely to Thee and to one another in one firm bond of unity;
for the sake of Jesus Christ.
Amen.

You send peace to all who receive it
I think this may be my favorite line in the prayer.
-to all who receive it
Send and Receive are action words; they are verbs.
And here, they imply that there is a relationship between the two,
or that there should be.
He sends peace to those who receive it.
We are not off the hook here. We don't get to sit back and let God do all the work in us.
We must be open, ready, willing, and educated enough to receive.
If you are not right with God....it's not on him.
I once heard a story from a woman who had gone to a camp with the daughter of a minister.
One day they were riding some kind of a motorized scooter thing down a wooded path.
The motor quit and the minister's daughter got down on her knees in the middle of the pathway.
My friend asked her what she was doing and she replied that she was
praying for the engine to start.
My friend told her, praying is good but you've got to actually pull the chord.
There is action required on our part.
We must be open to receive.
