27 May
yesterday I took a walk to the Commons during my lunch hour.
37,000 flags had been placed to honor those who have fallen in defense of our freedom.
They will be removed before sunset on Memorial Day.
It was an amazing sight to see.
the weather has been beautiful.
I love being able to get outside and walk with the children at work.

This is the view from the cemetery down over the beach on Memorial day every year
on this rather tiny island.
It's one of my very favorite views in the world and I'm looking forward to the parade
on Monday so I can see it again.
I took this with my camera and used a watercolor app.

Monday is my daughter's birthday.
Since it's Memorial Day she has plans with friends so we will have to get together
one day next week to celebrate.
this is one from a few years ago.

Yesterday I walked the beach to the bank and picked up the bus to work
there instead of at my house.
That display of flags is very impressive, and the sight of them on Memorial Day always tugs at my heart.
ReplyDeletewe love the Commons! have never been there though over Memorial Day. we WILL be in the city though at the end of June to tour BC and BU and possibly Tufts with our youngest. we are also planning on going to some " island" my hubby knowsmwith a castle?
ReplyDeletelove all your photos!
Oh my goodness...what a lovely post. It's nice to see all those flags out there. People need to be reminded of what Memorial Day really means. We will take part in the parade, and the ceremony at the local monument. And I am loving that watercolor app photo. What kind of phone/camera are you using? Same goes for my middle daughter's birthday on Sunday..."busy this weekend Mom, but see you next weekend!" It's all good! Aloha!
ReplyDeleteAll those flags are an amazing sight. So grateful for those who labor to protect our country and those who have given all. Hope the parade goes well! What lovely photos. Happy birthday to your daughter!
ReplyDeleteThe display of flags looks like a beautiful flower garden. I love the photos of the flags. I like that watercolor work. I though you had painted that. I am going to try to find me an app like that.

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing.
Happy Birthday to your girl! I am imagining you standing at the parade an gazing at that view today.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the day!
I hope your daughter had a great birthday. The flags are impressive, reminds me of the poppies at the Tower of London as a remembrance symbol.
