the christmas tree

the good

So....

every year we buy our tree from the little PTO stand in the park

across the street.

It's the biggest fundraiser of the year for the grade school

on our rather tiny island.

This year was no exception.

Saturday morning just after Joe and Joey left for hockey practice

Jack and I walked over to pick out a tree....

they had exactly 16 trees left....

all of which were absolutely gigantic!!

We chose the smallest one in the lot

over 9 feet tall and about 4 feet wide

Somehow we got it up the stairs and into the stand

it took me about 3 hours to get it all lit and decorated.

It's beautiful...but we are never doing that again!

the fun....

seeing the expressions on Joe and Joey's faces when they saw the tree

Joey was rather understated, "it's a little big."

whereupon Joe looked up and stated with enthusiasm

"Holy Shit!"

the random

Last years tree and this years tree...not very random....

  1. Oh my, your tree sounds awesome. I have a little artificial tree and prelit too. It would have been nice to see the expression on your boy's faces when they saw they tree. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!

  2. HeeHeeHee! The Joey/Joe reactions to the tree! Gotta have a BIG tree...they always look so much smaller on the lot than they do when you are trying to lug them up the stairs. But it's a beauty!

  3. and in the end they are always so bright and beautiful.
One year we cut one from the yard that looked perfect 'out there'!

  6. Out of the mouths of babes (and bigger boys too)! Enjoy your huge tree this year; I'm making do with a faux 3 foot table top but would love a bigger one if we had the room.

  7. Wow, that's "a little big!" But it doesn't look like you had to cut the top off, like we had to do with the one I posted this week:) Happy week!
