I suppose this is really a re-learn...or a reaffirmation

time goes by really, really fast.

I thought I must have already done this for September but I checked and my linky is not there.

Which can only mean it was August I am remembering....whooosh.......

Joe has started working the swing shift. He comes home at about 5am.

And he is wide awake and cheery

and talkative.

it turns out that mostly what I liked about early morning hours was the fact that they were all mine.

it's been an adjustment to share them.

I'm learning to like it.

I learned that family relationships evolve....

perhaps as we get older and lose beloved elderly family members

we resolve to spend more time with our sisters and brothers

and our own mothers.

Starbucks coffee does not agree with me

at all

no matter how many times I try it just one more time

I learned it is possible to like the new pope

even if I don't link myself to any particular religion

I find both good and bad in him...imagine that.

He's human.

    yes, yes, Kara. spending time with my mom and sister is becoming a priority. we've learned that life passes way too quickly ... the need to savor every moment of tenderness together is calling.

Abby and Hopie time

  ~ ~ ~ Abby and Hopie go to the beach. On Saturday my granddaughter, Abigail, asked if she could come to her Hopie's house all by herself. Of course, I said I would love that! Her older brother, Verne, wanted to go to a friend's house and her younger sister, Natalie, is too young to be away from mum for an overnighter. So...it was me and Abigail for the weekend. She wanted to stay 2 nights! I think she may have been slightly motivated by the need for some alone time and Natalie's late night crying. ~ We cooked homemade cornmeal waffles together for breakfast. a basket from the farmer's market

  A basket from the farmer's market. When I was a child my mum always had a fruit basket on the kitchen table.  Fruit was always an option if we were hungry at any time during the day. I had the same when my children were young and I noticed while visiting my daughter last week that she had a basket of apples on her table for her children. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree... I tend to put a basket of vegetables on the table as well.  Root veggies mostly since they don't need to be refrigerated.  I think that they look beautiful and why should fruit have all the fun! My favourite part is that everything (even the basket) came from the local farmer's market. It's so important to support local farmers.  ~ ~ ~ A bit of reading material.  I've been collecting books again... I've almost finished Think Indigenous.  My daughter bought it as a gift for me but decided to read it first. She loved it so much it took her a bit to part with it. I am loving it as much as she did and have put it down almost all the way through  because I don't want it to be over.  Macro tex
