10 September
sunflower season 'round here
I am watching the sun come up over the Atlantic as I type
A big orange ball reflecting in the silvery water
sunflowers are seeding out
and crows caw in the morning light
the school bus stops outside my windows to gather the teenagers
who go over the causeway, off island, to the highschool in the neighboring town
mums in the marketplace
cheery yellow, mauve, creamy white
pots of them on the porch
and vases gracing the dining room table

Autumn is slowly slipping in
I am ready for the heat to give way and a true New England fall to take hold! Enjoy the sunrise!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully written and illustrated. A wonderful season - always a welcoming sight after a crisp summer.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautifully descriptive post in word and photo! Thank you! It is like I am there!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!!! I couldn't agree more, this is my most favourite time of year. Jus popping over today to respond to your lovely comment on my blog. You are so lucky to live near Boston - and I know tickets to the BSO are for sure not inexpensive. How about Berklee? Concerts put on by the student ensembles there would be superb and be much more affordable. Our local University offers free concerts every Friday and the kids are amazing. I love the area of the US that you are from - we try to travel there every few years to stay in Maine.
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful blog!
Lovely image + lovely words!
ReplyDeletesuch a lovely post.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful writing. I love this time of year too :)
ReplyDeleteI love your yellow theme today. Happy Autumn to you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bright shades of yellow in cheerful images.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! You words make me excited for autumn. I planted a few varieties of sunflowers over summer that have finally bloomed. I have been slowly de-seeding them to store for next year.
ReplyDeleteYou word things so beautifully! I could just see, hear, and smell each and every image as you described them. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
