3 July

the skies have been so beautiful in the evenings

Joe and the boys and I have been walking the beach

in the gloaming

playing frisbee and skipping stones and gathering sea glass

We celebrated Jack's birthday with an outdoor concert in the park!

Lots of fun.

I am trying my hand at a linky meme for the first time

I am calling it

Tuesday Afternoons

your post can be about anything

that brings to mind the simple beauty of a Tuesday Afternoon

come by on Tuesday if you would like to join in

Independence Day is my favorite holiday of the year

though I admit that Christmas runs a very close second.

No costumes to make, no obligations to visit one or another relative,

no waiting in line for hours at a restaurant for an overpriced meal,

no slaving away in the kitchen no having to wear fancy clothes

a parade, fireworks, concerts in the park all weekend long,

time spent with the friends and family

you choose to spend it with

the best day of the year!

- 5 -

the beautiful hydrangeas are coming into bloom

all over the island

sweet treats

birthday cake!

  2. So happy you are going to have a link-up....I am not sure if my "type" of posts would fit into this setting...if I ever write one that seems appropriate to share here, I would definitely like to participate. :) Many blessings to you today!

  5. The 4th is a nice holiday, hadn't thought of it in the way you mentioned, but the "independence" of it is certainly nice. Once, I was out-of-country and that was certainly different. No fireworks, no picnics. It happens to also be my birthday, so a quiet day seems rather odd. :-) Happy 4th and best wishes with your Tuesday link-up.

  6. Your summer evenings sound lovely. I hadn't thought about that with the 4th of July, but that is one really nice aspect - it's a much more relaxed holiday than some of the others. The concert picture looks fun - love the boats behind it. I miss living near water.

  7. Happy Birthday to Jack. :)
I admit that I'm a teensy bit 'jealous' of that beach you've been walking.
Oh how my spirit would love a walk on the beach right about now. :)
    Sweet post, thanks for sharing.
    Neighboring you with #DanceWithJesus today.

  9. Oh my...Jack's birthday cake makes me so hungry for chocolate! That is gorgeous!

I will make myself a note so I don't forget about Tuesday afternoons...it sounds like a lot of fun.

I like the sound of your evenings walking with the hubby and kids on the beach. I'd be looking for the sea glass. :)

    Have a great weekend!

  11. Happy Birthday to Jack!
Your beach walks are something most every one loves and you are most blessed to have them on a daily basis.
When we lived in another country, Fourth of July was just another day so now we enjoy the fireworks and festivities.
