the bathroom sink

when we moved here to this rather tiny island

our home was empty

only the incredible view of the Atlantic Ocean just outside the windows

and we knew upon seeing this place that it was to be ours

the bathroom is painted a kind of periwinkle blue

and the old porcelain freestanding sink is chipped and cracked

I fell in love with it upon first sight

I grace it with a tiny vase of sweetheart roses and a stem of hydrangea

I would rather wash my hands and brush my teeth

at my old, chipped, white porcelain sink

than those that are gilded with gold

for kings and queens

Why are we so moved

to acquire more and more and more

  6. What a great and relaxing post! I'm right there with you, I'd rather have a chipped old sink with a great view than one made for kings and queens. :)
