26 May

the porch was filled with friends and family over the long weekend

as i sit out here this morning drinking my tea

the birds are twittering away amongst themselves

they are ever so happy that the seats beneath their feeders are empty

and all the guests have gone home

truth be told

as much as I love the celebration of being with loved ones

i also love the quiet of an early morning tea with the birds

  1. How lovely. And, I agree.........there's nothing like listening to the birds in the early morning. They were talking up a storm last evening here too. Sometimes we open a window just to purposely listen to them and their songs. Enjoy your day!

  2. Oh, my, yes! I do hear you. It's always fun to get together with family and friends but the calm afterwards seems just a bit sweeter.

  6. I agree. We live near the beach and while I am super social, my favorite time is early in the morning when the only other visitors are the seagulls.

Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the gentle night to you.
Moon and stars pour their healing light on you
