27 July
every evening
i hear their screen door whack behind them
as they walk the beach together
in the shallow of the waves
holding hands
battered and blasted by the thrills
where they have dabbled
they stand in the moonlight
slowly
skillfully
finger by finger
they unfold their gift
and offer it to the universe
two stained hearts
in one hallowed center
once i thought that we were lost
now i know the universe
reveals itself
when raindrops fall on summer pavement
I love it! Simple and nice pastels!

Ahhhh. That photo just drew me in. I've been having a bit of beach withdrawal today anyhow {I'm in landlocked KY} and that photo spoke to my heart. And the poem ... sweetness itself.

How well you colored your poem with such beautiful words so that the reader could picture the scene so well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful piece - the part that sang out to me was 'two stained hearts in one hallowed centre'..there is a contentment and acceptance in that place i feel
