these waves lap at a bucolic shoreline
when water is so calm it looks like an alternate universe
I sometimes I think i see my former self
staring back from the other side of the sound
I do not miss that girl
who struggled through such still waters to see her own potential
I tiptoe to the edge
but find no opening
I had the good sense to close that door long ago
what this tide brings to one side it takes away from the other
and vice versa
I am in balance of that synergy
imaginary gardens with real toads
sunday whirl
poetry pantry
while we may not miss them
ReplyDeletethey are a part of us...
in that i def find synergy....
Life is a struggle but on reflection one sees the beauty of all the experiences and rewards! Nicely, asos!

There is a synergy here. I like it!
ReplyDeleteI like the calmness in your poem and this line especially, "what this tide brings to one side it takes away from the other
ReplyDeleteand vice versa"
some great lines in this... doors close but who was behind them is still there...while we may not miss them...
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of the sea as an alternate universe......and admire the balance at the end, and the path it took to find it.
ReplyDeleteStruggle is an integral part of our life, but it feels nice when we achieve something out of it. Great going, best wishes.
ReplyDeletethe past belongs untouchable, and shapes the future always :) love it
ReplyDeleteGreat poem! I am glad you find yourself at a more odoriferous stage of your life where you have no refrets about who you used to be. Some doors need to be closed so that others can be opened.
ReplyDeleteThank you for image! So nice to look at calm water... I love the line 'I sometimes I think i see my former self
ReplyDeletestaring back from the other side of the sound' ~ lovely reflection.
Beautiful...looking into the waves, I think, one can see many different things. The waves and the clouds are similar in that way...both evoke different images in one's mind.
ReplyDeleteDifferent images yet so cohesive...
ReplyDeletetiptoed synergy
I love seeing the mix of words that you turn into such lovely poetry.
ReplyDeleteThis made me feel very reflective. Got to love synergy.
ReplyDelete"what this tide brings to one side it takes away from the other
ReplyDeleteand vice versa
I am in balance of that synergy"… life is always this way is it not? the pushing and pulling… trying to BE the balance in the synergy…a beautiful poem.
Nice use of the word synergy here. Well wordled.

I especially like the penultimate stanza in this peaceful pen ~
ReplyDeleteIntrospective. Finding balance in synergy is a great accomplishment. I liked the thought of tide bringing something to this side, taking away from the other. Well-penned.
ReplyDeleteYour image is so simple and yet so beautiful - it compliments your poem perfectly.
ReplyDeleteAh - but she is remembered even if kept on the other shore… Nice metaphor!
