caesar's  palace

morning glory

silly human, silly human race

the first morning glory flower greets the day

we have a porch garden

it looks out over the sea and receives both early morning and late afternoon sunlight

in the middle of the day the sun is above the roof of the porch and so it's well shaded

our house sits in sort of a three pronged fork with beaches on either side and a small park in the middle.

so we have a grassy area to play in but we don't have to mow it

~

There are white caps on the sound and i counted at least 10 kite-surfers!

some days they gather there and the the more experienced surfers teach the new comers  the sport.

Baked beans were in the oven all day and the whole house smelled like Laura Ingalls Wilder had
been here. I keep expecting to hear pa on he fiddle.

molasses, onions, brown sugar and bacon

mornings are cooler even though it's still August

often i have a sweater on when i sit on the porch with my morning tea

It was very windy here yesterday.
When my daughters were still quite small we used to call these rather blustery days.
That is what Winnie the Pooh called them. And so of course, so did we.

one of us would say to the other

"hmmm....it's rather a blustery day today"

and the other would reply

"why yes, so it is. What would you like to do today?"

blustery days are good days for walking through the fields and wood nearby or going for a bike ride.

good days for opening the windows and letting the clean fresh air sweep through the house.

hanging out laundry days

watching the white caps on the waves kind of days

baking days

warm cookies always taste better on blustery days.

  7. Lovely post. Sitting on your porch (sounds lovely) drinking tea and watching the kite surfers -- sounds pretty close to perfect to me. There is something special about Morning Glories ... I remember my granny telling me -- "good morning, glory". Baked beans (yum) and Winnie The Pooh ... loved your literary references. Go bake the cookies!

  9. It would be neat to see kite-surfers off the front porch. Not a scene we can enjoy in the mid-west.

I have a yummy baked bean recipe and have not made one batch this summer. The Husband is not a bean eater and my recipe makes a big batch.

The last month has been cooler than normal for us. The mornings can be quite brisk. This week we have had a lot of heavy fog. The weatherman says back to the 90's for the next week.
