Not fade away

If anyone thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue
but deceives his own heart, this person's religion is worthless.
James 1:26
There is a church in my town called Grace Community Church.
I went one Sunday because they are bible based and I love the bible.
The following week a woman from the church pulled out some rainbow flags that the pre-school that rents
space from them had put in the window boxes. The director of the pre-school asked her why she did it and
unfortunately, it was caught on video by a passer-by.
I think this church reflects neither grace nor community.
I won't be going back.
I wish I could find a church that stuck to the word of God.
Jesus says we are called to love one another as he loves us.
Why is that so hard for us?

I'm so happy that my church, Grace Fellowship Latham NY, is diverse and accepting of ALL people the way Jesus was. The Word is preached, our senior pastor is humble and exudes integrity and calls sin sin yet has open doors for ALL people. We even baptized a trans kid because.....why not??!! Jesus told us to love the Lord our God with all of our heart and soul and mind AND to love our neighbor (ANY ONE WHO IS DIFFERENT FROM US) as our selves. I wouldn't go back to that one either!! ReplyDeleteNot even considering how mean spirited this was, this is not her property, and she had no business doing it. She could likely get cited for vandalism. This one lady is giving her church a bad name! Shame on her!
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame. It sounds like it was not her place, so no matter what her motivation, she made what turned out to be a costly mistake. I don't know anything else about this story or your experience, but I would caution to not judge the entire church by something one person did. Blessings to you today, my friend.
ReplyDeleteHow sad that woman did that. I hope you find a church where you feel at home.
