a winter's frost
"Our houses are such unwieldy property
that we are often imprisoned by them
rather than housed by them."
Henry David Thoreau
Henry David Thoreau
the random
Frost on the porch door...that is the Atlantic
which you can just see
beyond the safety and warmth
of my home.
the good
Tucker Huckleberry Finn
likes a morning nap on the stool
at the sunny kitchen window.
He is there soaking in the warmth
as I sip my morning coffee at the table
and he is there when I sweep the old wooden floors some time later.
the fun
The thing about old houses on the sea
is that even though you have every door and window
battened down against the storm
the sand still manages to slip through and must be swept up the following day.
There's something quietly satisfying about a freshly swept floor.
Love the frost photo!
