3 January

Here on this rather tiny island where I live it's been rather cold

Arctic, in fact.

We've been dealing with single digit temperatures

for about a week now and there's no end in sight.

We are expecting snow all day on Thursday

and a windchill temp of well below zero on Saturday.

There has been sea smoke on the Atlantic

almost every morning this week.

I spent most the weekend inside keeping warm

only venturing out for church on Sunday morning

and I expect more of the same this weekend.

Winter has arrived.

Still, there is something strangely comforting

about a storm raging about out of doors

while I am safe and warm in doors.
