keeping sabbath

But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.

Luke 2:19

There are times when you happen to be glancing at a loved one....

perhaps they are filling a glass of water at the fridge,

or sweeping the kitchen floor,

or watching a certain commercial on TV,

and your heart is filled with such love for them.

You could never put it into words.

It would be like trying to write down the light

that shines through the window and glistens on their shoulder.

That is when I think of this verse...

and the earlier one -1:46

My soul doth magnify the Lord.

  2. I had one of those moments yesterday when I looked out the window at my husband as he was shoveling a path through the snow to the bird feeder. Thank you for your beautiful and thoughtful words today.

Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the gentle night to you.
Moon and stars pour their healing light on you
