the good
They are absolutely beautiful.
Oh my goodness was it a lot of work!
We stripped off the ugliest red tiles known to man
I have absolutely no idea what they were made of
but I can tell you that I think they were on the floor
when The Honeymooners came out on TV!
Under that was a layer of plywood subfloor
with about a gizzillion nails in it
and under that....another layer of linoleum flooring
and some kind of nasty glue!
Then we had to remove the fridge, stove, washer, dryer,
even the cabinet from the wall!
Even all the dishes, silverware, and all things from everywhere.
Our kitchen was empty for 2 weeks!
It was torture!

the fun
putting it all back together was my kind of fun!
Well...not so much the fridge or the washing machine or the stove.
They are heavy and we did them one a night after work.
It was hard and my husband scratched the new floor
when he did the fridge by himself...
that wasn't so fun.
But, then I got to put the hutch back
and all the decorating....
SO FUN!

the random
I picked up this old plant stand table
that a previous tenant left in an apartment I once lived in.
The color is fabulous
I put a few books, an old lamp, a pumpkin candle,
and a pipe that looks like something
Bilbo Baggins would have smoked.
Make it Pretty Monday

Congrats on getting it all completed to your satisfaction. It looks great indeed, warm greetings!
ReplyDeleteYou moved a fridge! That impresses me more than this beautiful floor, which is quite impressive!
ReplyDeleteYou must have such a sense of accomplishment after that project. I'm picturing warm and peaceful times there through the fall and winter.

New flooring is a tremendous amount of work, but it truly will pay off in the years to come as you enjoy it! Your little plant stand is darling :)
