4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable,
whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue,
and if there be any praise, think on these things.

This was one of the first verses I ever read in the bible
that reached out and pulled me in.
and I haven't put it down for any length of time since then.
When I wander....and I am prone to wander
these are some of the words that bring me back.
I love this verse! There are so many awful things in the world right now but it makes a big difference to choose to fill our minds with the good.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful with the bittersweet (which I am trying to encourage to grow here!). Those verses are key for me as well, and whenever I find my brain heading off into the deep end, I let the strength of them pull me back into truth.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you!
This verse has helped me reign in my thoughts more times than I can count. So grateful we can always come back to thinking on Him and find peace. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteAmen...beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect verse to share today. This...this is how we triumph over worry. Bless you for reminding me.
ReplyDeleteThis verse is so easy to overlook if not ready slowly and with discerning eyes. I feel like that is true in our world as well. We can be so quick to overlook the blessings and beauty all around us and become so task oriented or worse focus on the negativity of the world and let that be bigger than the blessings. Thank you for the opportunity to focus on this verse with more clarity. God Bless!
ReplyDeleteSuch a perfect scripture that explains so much about how simple life can be with those attributes. A great memory verse for sure.

We are ALL prone to wander, aren't we? That's our old sin nature. I totally agree about the importance of these verses in drawing us back. Thank you for sharing this today.
ReplyDeleteI love this passage. I'm prone to wander too, and when I do it's often because I have been thinking on things that are NOT true and lovely. So grateful for the gentle reminders of what I should be spending my time thinking about.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved this verse - it's one of my favorites. A pretty picture of the berries. I'm enjoying Autumn so much.

That's a passage I that often remind my children... focus on the lovely things. Your fall berries are so pretty.
