From the parking structure at the train stop

I can see out over the Atlantic to the rather tiny almost an island where I live

sometimes there is a ship or two sailing past on the horizon

on their way into Boston....just like me.

around the corner from Beacon Hill

 all decorated like a magical faerie land for Christmas

and filled with chocolates and goodies!! 







It seems like the Advent season and Christmas flew by this year!

I put all the Christmas things away on Monday. 

I normally wait till closer to New Year's but the tree was dying fast

and I wasn't sure it would last till the end of the week.

As much as I love having all the house decorated for the season

it's always so nice to have it all cleared out and clean again.



Christmas was very special for us this year

although it was a year with some pretty heavy losses in our family

it was also a year with some pretty happy gains

Verne is at the top of that list

My mum, my daughter, Bonnie, Verne, and myself!


Some of our family members thought it would be nice to have a 

special wedding cake for Joe and I to celebrate our

wedding cake this year! 

So after we ate our Christmas dinner they surprised us with a beautiful cake!

    I always love when you show a view of your island and what a great family photo! That sweet shop photo is great! If the sweets are half as good as the way the shop looks they are in business!   ~ ~ ~ Abby and Hopie go to the beach. On Saturday my granddaughter, Abigail, asked if she could come to her Hopie's house all by herself. Of course, I said I would love that! Her older brother, Verne, wanted to go to a friend's house and her younger sister, Natalie, is too young to be away from mum for an overnighter. So...it was me and Abigail for the weekend. a basket from the farmer's market

  A basket from the farmer's market. When I was a child my mum always had a fruit basket on the kitchen table.  Fruit was always an option if we were hungry at any time during the day. I had the same when my children were young and I noticed while visiting my daughter last week that she had a basket of apples on her table for her children. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree... I tend to put a basket of vegetables on the table as well.  Root veggies mostly since they don't need to be refrigerated.  I think that they look beautiful and why should fruit have all the fun! My favourite part is that everything (even the basket) came from the local farmer's market. It's so important to support local farmers.  ~ ~ ~ A bit of reading material.  I've been collecting books again... I've almost finished Think Indigenous.  My daughter bought it as a gift for me but decided to read it first. She loved it so much it took her a bit to part with it. I am loving it as much as she did and have put it down almost all the way through  because I don't want it to be over.  Macro tex
