1 December

Every year the big blue spruce in the park across the street is lit up for Christmas.

It's situated at the end of the causeway so all who come home

to this rather tiny sort of an island are cheered by it's bright and colorful presence.

Last year, for some reason, it wasn't lit.

I was so disappointed.

I began to wonder if they would light it this year and on Saturday afternoon....

along came a big crane with a bucket loader

to set about stringing the tree!

I can see it from my living room and dining room windows.

It's the little things that are the real ones after all.

Santa will be sailing in on Saturday night to flip the big switch

the town tree at town hall, the tiny white lights at Memorial Park,

and this year, once again, the big blue spruce

will all shine brightly!
