the random

I awoke to the news that David Bowie had died.

He succumbed to cancer after being sick for 18 months

He was just 69.

Huge loss for all of us.

the fun

I grew up listening to David Bowie.

I place myself in time with Bowie songs

sneaking cigarettes in the girl's bathroom (I haven't smoked in over 30 years)

being with friends at parties, bouncing around my kitchen, singing Kooks to my babies...

I feel so fortunate to have grown up in an era with so many amazing musicians.

That music defined who we are today.

Previously, music reflected who we were as nations -in history.

But the music by Bowie, and a few others of that time,

influenced so many lives.

Their music defined who we are today.

Their music left a mark because it was intelligent lyrically, it was talented musicians,

and it was fun!

It seems that most of the music today is missing those things.

There will never be another one like Bowie.

the good

We've been having a HUGE Bowie fest
this morning - listening to nothing else since we woke up

I think half the world is listening to Bowie today

A planet earth serenade to Bowie as he climbs the starry stairs...

Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the gentle night to you.
Moon and stars pour their healing light on you
