the good boys in the hood the random macro flowers the fun Joey and I went to the Marblehead/Swampscott football game on Thanksgiving morning. I grew up in Marblehead so we routed for the home team. I live in Nahant now though, and Nahant kids go to highschool in Swampscott so we didn't route too loudly. Marblehead won though.....we creamed them 51 to nothing! Happy Thanksgiving The Glover regiment was the Marblehead regiment during the Revolutionary war. There is a reenactment team that walks the Thanksgiving game and shoots their muskets when ever Marblehead scores. There was a lot of shooting going on. there is even a little yellow on the vest of the linesman/official... whatever he's called Mosaic Monday The good, the random, the fun sharing his beauty Monday musings Monday mellow yellow making your home sing I love macro macro monday 2 nature footstep c

visions of sugarplums...  the Christmas trees for the PTO fundraiser   arrived this morning We stood on the window shelf and watched the big truck pull into the lowlands parking lot The PTO parents and neighbors all came out of their houses  to help unload the trees and lean them up on the stand All the residents of our rather tiny island will be  picking out a tree to grace their homes with this season

it is not a little thing to be with the ones you love Here we are as in olden days Happy golden days of yore faithful friends who are dear to us gather near to us once more through the years we all will be together if the fates allow.... ~ At the edges of our celebrations are the memories  of those who are no longer with us. I can see them in the way a young girl's eyes twinkle or the expression on your cousin's face  that looks just like a grandfather... or a special taste to the gravy or apricot squares mince pie with hard sauce watching Christmas Vacation late night when almost everyone has gone home ~~~ Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas is my favorite Christmas song because it acknowledges the heartbreak and sadness that we share sometimes it remembers that we may not always be together but that the most important thing is that we have one another now I am listening to

if there were faeries

Image
the path through the wood is littered with toadstools perhaps a diminutive couple live in this one Phoebe and Bear when the nights get cooler they sojourn down a very tiny path  to have a bonfire with their neighbors in the early evening twilight. ~ Joey and I didn't happen to see any of that while we walked our path it wasn't quite twilight yet.... but we are quite sure that there are faeries in these toadstools We think that Bear might be a bit of a gnome, at least in shape, because that is a rather gnome shaped door in their toadstool home. I think we have not heard the last of them... we are looking forward to tales of their adventures in the tiny wood. 30 days of thankful -12,  I am thankful for paths through the wood and  little friends to share them with soulfood friday   Share your cup Thursday Little things Thursday

t ~~~ ~~~~ I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way.  O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.  ~ The ISV says: I will pay attention to living a life of integrity  when will I attain it? I will live with integrity of heart in my house Which, if we are being honest here, seems a little more likely for me. Behaving myself wisely in a perfect way is formidable  but paying attention to living a life of integrity gives me some room to correct myself when I mess up....and I do mess up.  I do believe that peace begins at home so walking within my house with a perfect heart and living with integrity of heart in my home... this is certainly what to strive for.  ~ I have put electric candles in our windows and I light seasonally scented candles so  that when Joe comes home from work or if we have friends or family over it looks welcoming and inviting in our home.  The

sunlight on pumpkins

Image
late afternoon sunlight graces the dining room I love the time change. I love the late afternoon sunlight it reminds me of the school bus dropping my children off from school.  They would take off their sweaters and tiny blue sneakers I would start dinner while they had a snack the sun would set while we ate at the kitchen table I love the idea of having everyone closing in as the day ends all your loved ones gathered at close of day. Splintered sunlight streaming through the windows and lighting on the pumpkins. ~ SOUL FOOD FRIDAY

We had my family over to celebrate my brother's birthday. We made plans to carve pumpkins as well since his birthday is just before Halloween. It was wonderful to have everyone together as we don't often get to do that.  ~ Thursday morning I met up with my very good friend Sue. We don't see one another as often as we used to. I have moved about an hour away and she is working a job where she frequently travels to the west coast. We had some breakfast at a favorite diner in the town I used to live in and we did a bit of shopping, mostly browsing. ~ The weather has been just beautiful. I know it won't be too much longer before it turns so  we are enjoying it as much as we can while it lasts. ~ Joe and I have been walking the beach before he leaves for work in the evenings. We can see the Boston skyline from the beach. ~ I saved the best for last Just before my family arrived, my daughter, Bonnie, told me she is expecting! Thi

Tuesday Afternoon

there is only one of these chairs as I purchased it at a yard sale for $2.00. I imagine there was once a set around a big farmhouse kitchen table. Women sat down to rest with a cup of tea after making lunch for a crowd, grandmothers wiped flour off the seat after making a pie crust at Thanksgiving, or wiped tears from their eyes when sadness and grief came into the home, children sat and did homework, and the men came in to eat mashed potatoes and roasted chicken.... anyway, I love the way it looks at at the sunny window in my kitchen. Today it's grey and Canadian geese are hunkered down in the field across the way. My daughter made the indian dream catcher for me -the seaglass I pick up as I walk the beach. There's a sprig of rosemary I rooted from a bunch I bought at the community gardens,  the bittersweet is from the path to the beach and of course there are piles of books. ~ 30 days of thankful 3 of 30 I am than

the fun the only thing I really love about Halloween is the pumpkin carving. the good  a bowlful of dried hydrangea for in a vase on Monday the random  we have a bird feeder on our second floor porch which attracts a great many birds...mostly sparrows. the other morning I heard a thud against the window and went to make sure all the birds were all right. Upon opening the door I heard lots of twittering and a great many little sparrows flew out from behind a table all willy-nilly into the sky.  As I turned, wondering what in the world had them all so upset, a great huge hawk flew right past me and landed in the tree right next to me. He was almost close enough for me to reach out and touch as he flew by! I so wish I had my camera handy.... ~ day 2 of 30 I am thankful for the abundance of natural beauty all around me. Ephesians 3:14-9 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,  from whom every family in heaven and on  earth derives its name,  that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory,  to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,   so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith;   and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,  may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,  and to  know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge  that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. 1 ~ 30 I am so thankful for my beautiful daughters without whom I would be only a fraction of the person  I am today. spiritual Sundays Sundays at home Scripture and a snapshot Blessing counters
