the stove in our kitchen
from whence all good things come
t
~~~
there are no gorgeous back splashes at our house
only the old horsehair plaster walls
which are in a very sad state of disrepair
above the stove in our kitchen hangs art-work
created by our family members
and this is one of my favorite views
~~~~~~~
When we have company
we sit at the round table in the dining room
those who don't face a window with an ocean view
face a mirror reflecting the view
I choose the only seat in the room that doesn't have an outside view
so the stove in our kitchen is what i see
friends and family gathered 'round
loving - laughing
enjoying a feast
brought forth from the stove in our kitchen
sundays at home
making your home sing
make it pretty
the art of homemaking
a return to loveliness

Lovely! Thanks for sharing the feast of love that comes from your stove.
ReplyDeleteHow appropriate the last lines of the Gaelic blessing (above) are to my thinking this week.
ReplyDelete"Deep peace of the gentle night to you.
Moon and stars pour their healing light on you."
Oh that was lovely. I would gladly take your seat and view in such a dining room of love and grace. We should have a "look At my stove" post day
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post. You are a very thoughtful hostess.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely view, all on its own. Super charming, that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteThe joy of sharing a meal with family shines through your words. A wonderful kitchen!
ReplyDeleteA "hearth" in any home, in any form, is its center, the source of warmth and nourishment both for the body and the soul; a beautiful place to rest the eye.
ReplyDeleteSo many memories of standing in front of that stove...I'm sure you have! I think, as stay-at-home-mothers and wives, we probably spend more time in front of our stoves and kitchen sinks than anywhere else. I LOVE every moment like that. :) I can sense that you do, too. God bless you, sweet friend. :) Your kitchen is lovely.
