16 june

it's been gray all the day long

murky and overcast

mist falling between showers

a kind of a soft ocean breeze shuffling the leaves

and filling the air with cool salty wetness

she made a quiche in the morning

because there were so much milk in the house

and half a bag of shredded Swiss cheese

a few leftover tidbits of vegetables

~
in the early afternoon she made a pot of tea

there was nothing like tea on a cool misty day

  sipping it as she worked

she made a corn chowder

to pack for lunches in leftover yoghurt containers.

~

the sparrows had chattered amongst one another all day at the feeders

purple finches lighting on the porch balusters

singing to the earth a new song

cardinals cheerfully chirping end of day

it was getting on evening now

she stood at the window in the dining room
conversing with Joe about what their days had held,

  what tomorrow might hold,

watching the night and a dusky fog

settling softly over their rather tiny island

  7. A cup of tea in that lovely teacup sounds wonderful with some quiche; love quiche! We don't have cardinals here unfortunately. Maybe someday they will find their way to our little island. Thanks for joining me for tea and enjoy your week.

    Blessings,

  8. This was lovely to read - calm, peaceful, as the grey mist from the ocean washed over me......

  9. Yes! Tea is perfect for this kind of day, be it the beach or anywhere else. And does it get any better than corn chowder? Only if it's clam chowder.
