5 January
behind the trees
the first winter sun caressed the sky
with scarlet
the pair of them sat watching for a bit
it struck her then
that one might not expect these times to be as plentiful
as the spare change he saved in the jar on his bureau
so she leaned against him
in the growing light
Life is only the spare change saved in a jar....

What fleeting things...spare time and spare change. Jars empty fast!
but it is a good thing they are...and we should collect them to keep for the times in between......lovely moment though....
ReplyDeleteSo sweet!

Lovely post, made me smile :-)
ReplyDeleteI love how she knew to live in the present and appreciate the moment!
ReplyDeleteSounds a lot like my poem. Interesting that our minds took the same path. It was a story in the air for creative minds to latch onto. Well at least your pair didn't part. Well wordled.
ReplyDeleteHa! This made me smile. A satisfying write. Brava!
ReplyDeleteYour words are simple, but their meaning goes deep...lovely!
ReplyDeletethe spare change on a bureau .. what a great metaphor...
ReplyDeleteA wonderful message. Moments are precious. We must live in them and fully experience them as they are limited.

Simply wonderful...full..rich as pennies
ReplyDeleteVery cool, the spare change metaphor and the swareness that such times are fleeting.
ReplyDeleteGosh, I like this so much! And, that jar of pennies makes the poem!
ReplyDeleteIf love is so beautifully simple, why is it so rare?
ReplyDeleteSo much to reflect on here! Nicely wordled.
ReplyDeleteHow True. Often we look back on treasured times and they are not necessarily gala times of great pomp but of precious moments where love and affection come freely unannounced.
ReplyDeleteThat is a really sweet image.
ReplyDeletevery lovely
