winter in my town
We had some pretty cold temperatures last week -cold enough to turn the water in the sound to slush and create an icy sea fog.
this week it got even colder and the Atlantic ocean that flows into Broad Sound froze.
Frozen waves of salt water!!
not something you see every day.

Dog beach has a little boat that has washed up on shore
i'm not really sure how this has happened
perhaps it washed up with the storm tide and then was stranded
when the tide froze
~
the downton abbey season started this week
love this
~
my family came over to celebrate my daughter's birthday
we had chocolate fondue
lots and lots of fun

i have a two interim classes
so school started for me this week
Yes , you would be hard to imagine. I was in freezing Canada for 2 winters. I don't want a freezing winter now.
ReplyDeleteMy weather is like San Francisco.
Cold enough to freeze the sea...now THAT is cold. Golly. It's hard to fathom, and here I sit complaining about the 40 degree cold weather we're having in south Texas. I'm ashamed of myself now. I hope you're able to stay warm inside. That image you shared of your home town is just so unimaginable. I'm glad you shared it tho, it's an eye opener!!
ReplyDeleteI stopped over at your blog, nice photos. We are neighbors. with your love of birds you should visit ..... http://holdingmoments.blogspot.com/
DeleteLove your photos, especially the little boat. Hope its owner finds it one day...
ReplyDelete(Visiting from Nancy's)
A frozen sea. That is quite amazing!

I love Downton Abbey and I'm looking forward to Sherlock. I remember living on Galveston Island on a saltwater lake. It doesn't freeze often on the island, but I was there one year when the saltwater lake froze. Amazing! Love the little boat. Happy Birthday to your daughter. Happy Friday.
ReplyDeleteOh I love that poor little boat photo-I always wonder where these things that are washed up on the beach come from, I prefer your beach like this rather then like the other day...
ReplyDeleteI am just starting Downton Abbey and love it. I really enjoyed the documentary they showed on the history of the castle they film Downton Abbey at. You know, that helped me understand the story line and characters a lot.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a neat thing to see ... frozen salt water waves! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBirthdays are celebrations of those we love and should be special. Glad you had a fun fondue party. Sounds yummy.
Good luck with your classes.
the frozen ocean is pretty amazing actually...and the ice formations on the rocks...wow...very cool...its was frigid here too...
ReplyDeletewe will start downton abbey's new season this weekend...have it on dvr....
No, frozen sea water isn't something you see every day! Sort of adds to the random theme?! I missed Downton Abby last week so I'm already behind!
ReplyDeleteI am glad Downton Abbey is back, there's not that much good stuff to watch on TV. It's hard to imagine frozen waves in the Atlantic, that must be something to see.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful light in your first photo! I just started watching Downton, I had to get filled in watching the other season's episodes!
ReplyDeleteThat frozen slush water is amazing! Great capture! I, too Love Downton Abbey! Still mad about Matthew, though. ;)
ReplyDeleteBrrrrr ... it has been very cold here in CT, too! Crazy cold!
ReplyDeleteWe get a break tomorrow with temps reaching 54* and rain instead of snow!
Happy New Year!

That really looks ccccold... We're having an unusually mild winter here - rather dull from photographic point of view!
ReplyDeleteI hope that boat just got loose from somewhere else and was not there from an accident.
ReplyDeleteLove Downton Abbey, too...wondering when Bletchley Circle will begin again...
It looks so much colder than us but I think that it probably is a lot colder. We are sheltered by the Rocky Mountains from the freezing arctic winds. I do not know one person who does not like Downton Abbey. It is one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI know the cold must have been hard to take, but the frozen ocean is fantastic to see!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like New England, I love the stranded row boat. I think row boats make a wonderful photographic subject. And I simply cannot get my head around frozen saltwater waves! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of the boat. Froze salt water would be very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I"ve ever seen ice or snow near the ocean before. It has been rather cold in places this year. Great pictures.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots here especially the one with the little boat. Will yes Downton Abbey is quite a topic of conversation. Love it too. It is about 45 in Ky. now.
ReplyDeleteFrozen seas make me cold right to my bones! The lonely boat is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteExcellent shots, but, my goodness, its cold!!
