listen
in a split second
all that really matters could be clear to you
we shuttle to and fro
we pulverize what it means to love
leaving nothing intact
we preach about following our hearts
but we have no idea what that means
all we really get are levels of echoes
that are never very clear
...and the teensy weensy spider went up the spout again...
ATTEND YOUR LIFE
"we preach about following our hearts
ReplyDeletebut we have no idea what that means"
If only we would stop long enough to figure out which direction to go!
"Attend your life" and "Listen" bookend wisdom. Let us pause in there and feel what our hearts say separately and together.
ReplyDeletepowerful and lovely too...
ReplyDeleteNice poetry - simple and so true!
ReplyDeleteSo true that we often talk a good line about following our hearts & perhaps many don't even know what it means to do so. Lots to think about here.
ReplyDeletePerhaps we never really know what it is that we seek, or what it is that might satisfy our lives totally....
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, Eileen
I think the spider says it all..nicely spun
ReplyDeleteI liked the verbs you used to frame your poem, as well as the thoughts in between. Food-for-thought!

ReplyDeleteall we really get are levels of echoes.... it is not so easy to follow our hearts...i think we have un-learned to listen to it... i'm all for decoding its voice again...
some very thoughtful and powerful lines...
ReplyDeleteI smiled at the line about the spider and water spout again. Great fun to have that in the poem.
ReplyDeleteLove where you went with those Wordle words.
ReplyDeletePowerful and true... absolutely. This felt really good to read. Thank you.
ReplyDeletevery interesting approach... powerful.
ReplyDeleteI love "attend your life".......much wisdom in this poem.
ReplyDeleteAttend to your life - spot on. Too many cobwebs in some corners of mine.
ReplyDeleteI love this poem! It is so true! Thanks for sharing, have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteBoth lovely and poignant!
ReplyDeleteWhether it is the spider or ourselves life is one constant repetition until the final flood washes us away for ever. Who knows how we are measured? Is life a test or a reward? Just try to do no harm.
ReplyDelete'ATTEND YOUR LIFE' ~ sounds good...and I love also ' all we really get are levels of echoes
ReplyDeletethat are never very clear' ~ we always want to know everything ~ perhaps we're learning how to recognize clearly the inner voice...
Wow, what I would say if I could. Beautiful and truthful.
ReplyDeleteThere are lots to be caring about. Yes, life must go on! Nicely SoS!
ReplyDeleteHank
I think many have tried to teach us how to follow our hearts, but that means we must first learn to listen...and that is a life long enterprise. Thanks for the thoughtful advice,
ReplyDeleteElizabeth
Wisdom flows through each of your lines...if only we just listen and attend to our lives!
ReplyDeleteWe may intellectually know what following our hearts means, but emotionally it is very scary.
ReplyDeleteOne has to pause and take stock along the way, obviously! Merry Christmas!
