20 December
its beginning to look a lot like christmas
~
my daughter came over to watch It's a wonderful life
time is the most precious gift you can give to some one
~
i am ready to start shopping for gifts
i am giving every one candlesticks from the charity shop
along with pretty candles and a
photograph and poem
i may even bake a few things
~
i find that the older i get the more understated and simple i like things to be
next year i want to decorate our tree with just lights and some shells or pinecones
~
we had two snow storms last week
socked in don't leave the island or even the house kind of snowstorms
the first storm was a wintery mix so we don't have so very much snow
just enough to make every thing look like a magical fairy land
until it melts....and then we get the muddy slush
until it melts....and then we get the muddy slush
colors of the season
Beautiful shot. I have been trying so hard to simplify this year...it hasn't been working! Hope you have a wonderful holiday.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot and lovely blue sky against that white building!
ReplyDeleteThe idea of simplicity at Christmas time is very appealing to me as well. Lovely, sunny photo! Your gifts sound very nice! Enjoy!
ReplyDeletewow, love the old station. would love to know the history on that one. i need to bring out "it's a wonderful life" again ... makes me feel happy & like a kid again. keep dreams alive too!! ( :
ReplyDeleteLOVE YOUR POST - and the Refreshing concept of simplicity.
ReplyDeleteLove to YOU!
Love the photo, but love your words more, you have a wonderfully, smooth way of conveying a picture with words. Have a very merry Christmas. ( a tree in just lights seems to be a good idea, yes simplicity)
ReplyDeleteI love the architecture of the station! It looks wonderful framed in snow and holiday trimmings. I also love your words about simplicity. I hope you have a beautifully simple Christmas filled with many warm memories!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Friday Finds.
Beautiful shot. I think you have a great idea to *simple* things up. I do love this time of year -- all the twinkling lights. The older I get, the more I Believe! ;) Merry Merry!
ReplyDeletePerfectly lovely image today -- so festive. And I love your idea for a simple Christmas. Wish I had thought of that earlier! Lol.
ReplyDeleteI love creating gifts out of simple things. I tried to make lots of little gifts this year to deliver friends. The kids are out of school for winter break today and I look forward to a weekend of old movies (I hope I can get them to sit still for them! :)
ReplyDeleteI went up-Island early in the month to see a stage production of It's a Wonderful Life. It was a lovely way to start the season. Last night we had a snow storm and it will take some time for us to get out. We just don't get snow out here - last year we didn't get as much as a flake - so it's a shock and a bit of a trial. Our small municipality doesn't really have snow removal equipment, so we'll wait it out. The rain will come later today and wash it all away.
ReplyDeletetime is def the most important thing you can give...and a great movie as well...i hope your holiday is filled with much of that time...what a cool pic...a bit of history there...
ReplyDeletebeautiful snow building:)
ReplyDeleteSounds lovely and those really are the most important things.

Beautiful - I love how the red really pops from the rest of the muted scene!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous picture!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about keeping things simple as we get older. I think the idea of the candles and a poem is perfect for everyone on your list.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, and I hope you are filled with love and peace on this special day. So glad I met you in blogland this year.

My heart is full to overflowing with the beauty of the images I see whenever I click through one of the Tuesday Textures or Friday Finds. So glad that we have all found Kim and are sharing her journey!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful old station! They're always so intriguing, you know there would be some interesting stories if they could talk. I love your simple Christmas ideas! Have a merry, if simple, Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI am glad to have my shopping done and ready to celebrate with my family. Off to their house to the east - it should be called the frozen north; tis always 20 degrees colder there.
ReplyDeleteAfter my mission trip to Belize a few years ago I am definitely into living a more simple life. Wishing you all the blessings of Christmas. Great photo.
ReplyDeleteThe simple gift of candlesticks and candles - what a great idea. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI love It's a Wonderful Life, My favorite version though is one that starred Marlo Thomas (actress) and was told from a female point of view. - Well we got a wintery storm today (so unexpected) and while it's pretty I don't like being out in it and still have shopping to do. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteI do love the simplicity of the photo and your post. It leaves me with a wonderful feeling. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove the colours of your Christmas season. The colours of the wreaths make such a cheerful splash against the white. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't be Christmas without watching "It's a wonderful Life". We are one storm ahead of you, but they are predicting 67 for Sunday. Was hoping for a little snow next week. Enjoy your shopping.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful site and lovely at this time of year.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo - love the giant wreath! You are right about time - and about wanting to simplify as we get older. Seems I am craving simplicity lately. Love your gift ideas - perfect. We had snow this morning, too. It is so pretty, but forces you to stay home. Which might be a good thing. :) Hope you have a lovely weekend. xo Karen
ReplyDeleteClean, beautiful, simple...a perfect shot for the theme...or any theme.
ReplyDeleteThat old station is beautiful. I'm loving everyones snow pics.
ReplyDeleteYes, simple is good. No chance of getting snowed in here.
ReplyDeleteI love this photo of the old station, beautiful! Thank you for visiting us & for being thoughtful to leave a comment. Merry Christmas, Glad & Celia
ReplyDeleteWhat a fine vintage station in the snow. This photo is so peaceful. I think it conveys a simpler lifestyle, as you write about so beautifully. I like your idea of candles for gifts. Why give people something they don't need or want? Everyone can enjoy candles. I hope you have a wonderful holiday!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty location. Simple is the new black (so to speak) - and if ever, less is more. Stopping by from Nancy's and wishing you a Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteLovely blue tones.
