bayberries
the bayberry bushes are loaded with berries
i've been to the path along the beach
i brought home
a little clipping in a small jelly jar
and set it on the kitchen table
the morning sun shines in through the window
lighting on the greenish grey berries
warming them just enough to perfume the house with their fragrance
bringing nature inside is one of my favorite things to do
... and use the bay leaf in soup/stews in winter. Bonus. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if these are the same type of bay leaves they use for seasonings.
Deletethis is a very pretty photo, I've never heard of bayberries...
ReplyDeleteI love that she does this. It makes me smile. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this shot of the bayberries....it is very nice to be able to bring nature inside and let it spread it's aroma for us to enjoy...
ReplyDeleteI love that she does this. I have always like the scent. But also because the very first time I kissed her we were both eleven years old and playing truth or dare in the middle of a huge Patch of Bayberry bushes. And I can still remember the smell of them to this day.
ReplyDeletemy sweet man...i remember that too...
DeleteI never made the connection between bayberries and bay leaves until this post! I'm not sure what todo with the berries, but sure would cook with the leaves!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful shot of the bayberries. I'm all for bringing elements of nature into the home... not to mention the sweet aroma that accompanies these natural elements.
ReplyDeleteOh, I enjoy bringing nature inside too! Especially at THIS time of year...before it all fades away.
ReplyDeleteHow unique, I would be delighted for you to share them in Texture Twist Photo Link!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen these - do they have a scent?
ReplyDeleteThey have a wonderful scent. You may have smelled it before in bayberry scented candles.
